Max Calavaza Turquoise and Coral Hand Chain Bracelet
Sorry, currently out of stock
This hand chain bracelet style has an interesting history. It became popular in the Roaring 1920s and was based on a style commonly associated with harems and belly dancing. It was called a slave bracelet. In the 1970s, items from India were popular with the counter culture. Native Americans began to make them for tourists and they remained popular for a decade. This vintage style has been recreated by Navajo silversmith, Max Calavasa.
Sleeping Beauty Turquoise with Mediterranean Red Coral is a classic stone combination of Native American jewelry. The adjustable ring and traditional cuff bracelet are attached by a handmade sterling silver chain. This hand chain bracelet also features applique work. Applique is a method of creating separate silver designs like feathers, beads, flowers, and leaves which are soldered onto the jewelry. This vintage style is surely a conversation starter and fun to wear.
