Santo Domingo Turquoise Heishi Loop Earrings

A Santo Domingo artist created these impressive loop turquoise earrings with an oxidized sterling silver bead at the top and bottom. Santo Domingo artisans have been creating heishi (hee-shee) beads for over 1,000 years. Heishi beads are discs of shell or stone that have been ground into smooth barrel shapes, then drilled and strung to create beautiful, smooth flexible tubes of stones.
