Santo Domingo 5 Strand Turquoise & Spiny Oyster Heishi Statement Necklace

This large stunning Santo Domingo 5 Strand Turquoise Heishi Necklace was created by artist Lupe Lovato. The Santo Domingo Pueblo located just south of Santa Fe is known for its creative stone cutting and bead making. Heishi is a style of bead made by grinding the stones into disk-shaped beads to form long smooth strands. This 5 strand version creates a dynamic modern necklace with roots in ancient bead making. Five graduated strands of genuine Turquoise are enhanced by Spiny Oyster Shell cut in a traditional corn design. A one-of-a-kind dramatic statement necklace, where the present meets the ancient Southwest.  This is a wearable piece of Native American art. Completely handmade in New Mexico.
