Navajo Orange Spiny Shell Oval Ring (Size 6)

This bright orange spiny shell and sterling ring was handmade by a Navajo artist.  A vibrant orange spiny shell was cut, polished, and set in a smooth bezel and surrounded by a hand-stamped sterling silver frame. It has a comfortable split shank band. Spiny shell is found deep in the Sea of Cortez off the Baja Peninsula. It is considered an organic gem because, unlike a stone, it was once part of a living thing. The colors of spiny shells vary from shades of red, purple, and orange.
