Grade "A" Megalodon Shark Tooth
Grade "A" high quality Megalodon shark tooth fossil. Beautifully high polished with rich deep colors of gray and black.
The Megalodon Shark, (Carcharocles Megalodon), ruled all the warm water seas during the Neogene Period (5-24 million years ago). At the beginning of its reign, the Megalodon was unaware of the evolution of the first hominoids on land, but would have witnessed the first monsoons and upwellings in the Arabian Sea, which connected the Mediterranean Sea with the Indian Ocean. The Megalodon is believed to be related to the great white shark. It may have reached upwards of 65 feet long. One way of estimating the length of these monsters of the sea, is by equating every 1 inch of tooth with 10 feet of length. Fossil remains of this shark have been found throughout the world, most notably in the dark murky rivers of South Carolina.
