A Santo Domingo artist created these Heishi loop earrings with fine Pen Shell and sterling silver beads between genuine Turquoise freeform stones. Santo Domingo artisans have been creating heishi (hee-shee) beads for over 1,000 years. Heishi beads are discs of shell or stone that have been ground into smooth barrel shapes, then drilled and strung to create beautiful, smooth flexible tubes of stones.
