Septarian Nodules are fossilized mud bubbles that formed between 50 and 70 million years ago, during the Cretaceous Period. They are composed of calcite, aragonite, and are coated in limestone. Septarian Nodules form in air bubbles which create crystal pockets. The word Septarian comes from the Latin word "septum," meaning "partition." Septarian nodules contain angular cavities as a result of cracking, which are called septaria and create divisions throughout the stone. No two Septarians are the same making them unique and ancient in every way!

Septarian is found along the Gulf of Mexico, as far inland as southern Utah, recently in Madagascar, and also in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, and England. It has a hardness of 3-4.

Septarian is associated with the lower chakras: root, sacral and solar plexus, and is often referred to as the "Dragon Stone".  Believed to aid in calcium absorption, while improving contemplation, mental processes, and grounding with the earth and its ancient beginnings.
