Sterling Silver Overlay Bolo Tie
This Sterling Silver Bolo Tie is a classic representation of Western accessories. Navajo silversmith Peter Nelson created this exceptional piece using the silver overlay technique. Silver overlay is made but cutting each individual piece of the design and soldering it to a base of sterling silver. This thick, rectangular medallion with traditional Navajo symbols was oxidized for contrast and to bring out the details. Hand-stamping along the edges and across the top adds to the beauty and complexity of the piece. The medallion can slide up and down the braided leather cord to tighten or loosen the tie. The ends of the cords are embellished with heavy decorative sterling silver tips to complete the look. This is Navajo artistry at its best. This is a one-of-a-kind example of fine Native American silversmithing.
